while the ignore function is nice, there are a small handful of folks who incessantly post here that i wouldn't mind never ever seeing again.
a full blocking option would be a good option, or at least a stronger filter in threads where you can't see their comments when quoted by a respondent.
just a suggestion. otherwise, great job running and maintaining this site!

Hiding quotes would definitely be challenging -- the forum doesn't actually track who's quoted inside of a post. Would a warning on the thread page itself help? For example, upon clicking on a thread in which a blocked member has posted, the first thing you would see is that (a) the member made a post and (b) his post may have been quoted by someone else.

i'm not really sure what a better solution would be, honestly. i know that implementing anything beyond the current structure would be difficult to do.
a warning system where it alerts you that a ignored member created the post in the title of the thread, on the board list itself might be good. then again, it may not be feasible at all.
all in all, the current setup is fine. maybe throwing more features in might just make it more convoluted in the first place.

No a ban is okay. Maybe with a warning first and then a ban to keep it fair if the persons continous to fail our "gentlemen club" standarts here.
IP based bans would be preferable.

Unless the individual is really breaking group rules or continuing to make you the object of their passive agressive attitude I see no need for installing heavier blocking options. To be honest, I don’t block people I disagree with because I see no need to hide from opposing point of views.

honestly, after dealing with a couple of particularly persistent and annoying users today, i'm coming to the conclusion that a complete blocking option (ala facebook, twitter, or instagram) would be nice.
