I feel compelled to point out an error in Chapter 2. 12 up from 7 is an increase of ~71%. For fertility increase of "hundreds of percent" it would need to be at least 21 up from 7 (200% increase). Otherwise good.

Regarding the comment on the fertilization rate increasing hundreds of percent, not every insemination causes fertilization, and not every fertilization causes implantation in the uterus. So a large increase in the rate of fertilization does not translate to an equivalent increase in litter size.

Enjoying the story so far. It's intelligently written and I respect that.
