It’s my understanding that raw original video files have data that could compromise her personal information. We don’t want that, some creep could scare her off and make her stop posting.

Not only because of EXIF data, but if they were referring to some of the IG Highlights videos, it's because those are the only uploads of the videos that I am aware of which still exist in any form. It's quite common for Instagram users to create "videos within videos" by containing their friends/family/whatever's video(s) in their IG Story and overlaying text or special effects or what have you on top of them. This isn't my doing, and it's apparently all there is.

That is to say: many of those videos were all but surely IG Stories at some point, but since those expire within 24 hours without exception, the only "surviving" uploads of them are as the above - whatever the users decided to preserve in their IG Highlights, which don't expire by nature.

@Jeromeodawg Excellent work! Getting down to the source of this one takes a bit of homework, and I grade it an A+.

P.S. On the heels of that, I just looked back through "the usual places" and dug up a couple new entries for this legendary tale: a picture and a video. The former I've properly dealt with (so to speak) and am sharing here, and the latter is deserving of submission to a dear acquaintance before doing the same.

So you guys never heard of reformatting? This completely get rid of the metadata to trace the IP of the original file... If anything use a screen recorder to record the video instead of a sloppy video filmed from someone's phone :/

I use Windows, so here's my suggestion:

1. Download picture(s)
2. Right click picture(s)
3. Click Properties
4. Click Details tab
5. Click "Remove Properties and Personal Information".

Did some extra credit, so to speak, and found a couple of new-but-samey pics. 2nd one features her preparing to give birth.

EDIT: Also added a slightly higher-res upload of the pic that Jerome posted.

Idea: just use storysaver. I've been using it since last year. The username wont be in the saved files or the metadata. You can even download the "saved" stuff

I also did some more digging this morning and found a "cleaner" version of one of the "Highlights" pictures (that is to say, not a picture-within-a-picture) and am uploading it with this post.

...and with that, I think I'm finally done for the time being. Everything relevant has been mirrored in my G-Drive. Needless to say, I will be sure to provide updates for any and all future IG Stories and Highlights which happen to provide new material.
