I posted the idea of this in discussions yesterday, and decided to give y'all what I've made in the last few hours.
To recap, for unrelated reasons to this website, I had to get a month subscription to a text to mp3 service. While ultimately, it's not much more advanced than Microsoft Narrator, it does it's job easily enough.
And given that it's highly unlikely that anyone will make most of these stories actual audiobooks, this is the best we're likely to get for a long time. Regardless, any story under 100 kb, I can turn into a mini audiobook!
A few notes before you get into it.
1. I have only test listened to a few of these so far, and in most cases, these are copy and pasted directly from the original story, so there might be spelling errors, or just parts that the program cannot read.
If it's really bad, let me know which story and roughly how far into it the error is, and I'll try to edit the original document.
2. I, unfortunately, do not have the authors of most of the stories I've saved over the years. If anyone knows who they are, let me know so I can give credit to the original authors. If any of these works belong to you, and you don't want them out in the world like this, let me know.
3. I don't know if I'll take requests for this, but if I do, a few ground rules, firstly, if possible, credit the author, so I can credit the author. Secondly, the text file needs to be under 100 kb, and lastly, in accordance with the rules of this site, 18+ CHARACTERS.
4. Lastly, I've only been working with this program a few days, and am still learning it's ins and outs. Please be patient as I figure this thing out.
With all that said, here is volume one of Audio Stories. As always, please enjoy and use (ir)responsibly!
