OK so my I have been playing around with some editing software, photoshop, and a few other trick to take some classic photos we all know and love to a new level.
This is really exciting stuff in it's infancy, but if it can do this to 15yr+ old photos, I can't to see where it goes.
The AI doesn't always get it right, but it is fun to re-imagine these classics.
It also has some major implications when it comes to revamping some of my candid photos/videos!

I am curious what your thoughts are and if you have some tools to upscale and raise the quality of your photos???

May consider doing requests as well...

This thread will be re-posts of old photos, but there is a ton of editing to make them "new" again. Hope you enjoy!

Your upscaling and enhancements are pretty aggressive, and many of the results look... well, computer generated and unnatural.  In my experience using Topaz AI (for both images and video), I've found that it's better to have realistic expectations of what AI enhancement models can do and make only modest adjustments.  The old "garbage in, garbage out" principle of computing definitely applies: if the source file simply doesn't have enough pixels, and/or if it's too blurry or compressed, the "improved" file will look no better - and possibly worse - than the original.

Here's an example of some recent Topaz stuff I've done with one of my personal all-time favorites.  They're relatively low resolution by modern standards (480x480 or 640x640) and are noisy, but they are still good quality photos: not blurry, no compression artifacts, relatively simple textures.  After some noise reduction, face recovery, and a little sharpening and enhancing, they look significantly improved.  You'd never have guessed I did anything to them if I hadn't told you (or, if you're like me, you knew the originals from memory). But that says more about the original photos than most of the tweaks I did to them.

These are more aggressive then DI's, but as they said, "Garbage In = Garbage Out"
I do think it is cool and almost art how these old digital photos from the past can be reinterpreted.

Yeah, those look a lot better, and with some photos you can be more aggressive with the enhancements. I think the first photos you were using just had too many complex elements (e.g. the tulle on her outfit) and/or were too low-res. I tried my hand at the one original photo you posted and didn't have a ton of luck either.

Pretty incredible what technology lets us do these days, and it will only continue to improve. Either that, or it will kill us all.
