Just a short story to go with it. I used to frequent a diner, but "frequent" became "occasional". There's a waitress with whom I made small talk every time we saw each other, and we hadn't seen each other in a long time. So when I walked in today she was behind the counter, as usual.
"Hey, vestrumtobias*! Haven't seen you in forever!"
"Yeah, I'm back. How're things?" I took a seat.
"Ohh, hangin' in there." As she said that, she walked from the counter and toward where I sat so she could hand me the menu. I wasn't prepared to see her with a pregnant belly.
I smiled and gestured to her tummy. "Been busy, I see."
She laughed and rubbed it with both hands. "Yeah, how'd that get there?"
Um, I'm pretty sure I know the answer to that.
