History major here (if anyone cares)- these statuettes are most likely fertility totems, or potentially figures of a Mother Goddess, as we do know from archaeological record that pre Bronze Age European societies were matrilineal, moon worshipping peoples. Rereading the articles I had to do a double take when they say “fertility fetish.” I’m thinking… uuuuh, is Wikipedia as horny as me in this particular way? Then… oooooh, not that kind of “fetish.” The magical object kind of fetish.

Although, my picture collection does kind of resemble a magical object…
