There was an article yesterday that said oregon is allowing people to pass high school without being able to pass math or langauge classes. What a fucking joke.

Unless you're going to travel outside the country or work in a field that requires it, language classes are a huge waste of those four years.  Literally anything that I want translated, my phone can do in seconds. They instead need to be teaching these kids how to actually survive after highschool instead of either shipping them to college or making them work minimum wage at Walmart.

Well then next time be more clear. There's language that you learn and are required to know BEFORE you enter highschool, and then there's foreign "Language", which more known to be a requirement for graduation.

I live in France and yes taxation his very high but in exchange we get services.

That's fine, just don't tell me they're free. I'm from america obviously but yeah I don't trust the inefficient government to teach anyone. France has a bit more culture so it's not so bad but imagine regressive public school in america just cranked up to university level. God that sounds horrible.

There are many articles with misinformation about the Oregon bill. The bill did not change any graduation requirements as far as passing classes and having enough credits in those subjects. The only thing that changed is students are not required to pass a standardized test that tests them on those subjects.Students still need to have passing grades and enough credits to graduate. The bill was in response to the covid problem and remote learning that will likely be coming back in the future as the delta variant takes over.
