That's the number one issue I have with sites that are run by 1 person. Most of them are too damn prideful to get help, knowing that there's no way they can meet demand 24/7. And would rather close the site than to swallow their pride and ask for help or hire a moderator or two.

It was a side thing he did, and he said ages ago that it wasn’t his top priority to contribute to the site. He has a life, just like the rest of us. Maybe instead of blaming him for shutting down, we should instead direct our focus towards the assholes who decided he wasn’t doing enough, and so they harassed him.

Guess he kinda went the way of Cheviots place?

The guy worked very hard, pity to see it all go to waste.

So instead of giving the site to someone(s) who has more time to maintaince it, or ignore and block the people who kept harrassing him, he decides to delete and ruin it for the people who were appreciated?

Let's be honest, it just sounds like all of the complaints where from the same 1 or 2 assholes who could've easily have been blocked or banned. He could've legit only updated that site once a year and everyone else would've been fine with it.

Quitting is fine, but man, did he really have to delete everything without warning? He couldn't even give us an hour to jot down the entries?

The overwhelming majority of his list was contributions from people who wanted to help spread the word about interesting and obscure finds. Most of them were even helpful enough to include timestamps, descriptions, and source information. Deleting everything at the drop of the hat is a giant middle finger to everyone that tried to help him and genuinely appreciated him, but I'm not that surprised really. "Admin has bad day, deletes everything" is an all too common story on the internet, and I had a feeling in my gut that it would happen eventually.

If there's ever a replacement site, it would have to be something as simple as a giant public document, like Dropbox, so everyone could easily make backups and contribute and update as they please. Even a basic text list would be fine.

I just found out it was deleted and damn, that’s really sad. It was the number one place to find any movie, TV show, video game, or whatever else that had any pregnancy stuff. And the fact that it was never archived makes it sadder. I seriously hope someone else makes something similar or maybe even the original creator brings it back. But I feel like if someone did something similar to it, it wouldn’t really be the same since there wouldn’t be as many obscure things that The Belly Guide had. Just the fact that so much content was removed like that because of some assholes sucks so much. I’ll really miss it.
