I'm not Asian, but here's my take. For one, South Korean work culture is similar to Japan and China. Good luck having dating or having an actual personal life when you're expected to work 52 to 68 hours a week. (Between about 10.5 to 13.5 hours a day.) People are expected to get married and have children after attaining a stable financial position, so the woman can focus on child-rearing and taking care of both set of grandparents. (In Asian cultures multi-generational families are the norm.) Despite being one of the most technologically advanced economies, South Korea has been stagnant following a slow recovery from the financial crisis of 1997. Basically, like with Japan, South Koreans have to deal with a clash between cultural expectations and economic reality, and have decided to be independent. The same thing is beginning to happen with China now that their economy is slowing down, and the current generation is used to being an only-child.

South Korea had a small uptick, many industrial nations are 1-2 children per woman, including Eastern Europe and the former USSR (Soviet Bloc). I've read 5 European (Union, council and/or geopolitical) countries: Albania, France, Ireland, Poland and Turkey, have higher birth rates than my state CA (US) who's lower than Israel. Some nations want to increase the birth rate to rejuvenate their shrinking and historically depopulated countries. The US remains #1 in the most births per industrial nation, however, I find it interesting wherever a country has a culture that beautifies, revers, values and appreciates pregnancy, maternity, family and community such as a social welfare net and honors but not treat women like "baby machines" or "natal factories" along with egalitarian ethos and morals of men should get equally involved in housekeeping and child-rearing: would have 2-3 babies per family on average. East Asian nations including Taiwan, Vietnam and I'm sure North Korea, they appear not too interested in having "1 more" child, it may be their economic situations, a less religious culture but conservative clashed with the modernity of these countries where women can hold office jobs...and still, get told to "get married, have babies and stay home at age 30", and until lately (not all East Asians according to Tiktok) was quite reserved in sharing their pregnancies than Europe (the stereotypical southern-western nations' "fascination" with pregnancy) and the US (the northeast states' contradictory social liberal but puritan conservative foundation).

The amount of pregnant Korean porn should be an indication. There's a reason there's only like 2 new Javs per year.

There's a reason Japan has been importing skilled professionals. Most countries' native populations are not reproducing at a volume that outpaces "replacement rates". China is on track to lose half its population by 2050 after decades of working to skew trends downward. Many countries would need couples to produce at least five children to shift trends. We've been undermining that in the US for about 70 years by normalizing two-income families and blowing living costs out of proportion because of it.

it seems like we don't have a south korean citizen here. okay then I will explain the situation there from what I read on the internet.
south korea has a lot of double standards. for example men have forced military draft. women don't. there are more double standards. men are more fucked. men just gave up there.
the pension system there is now basically a ponzi scheme and will collapse.

that being said in the past there was true equality between men and women. now we have false equality because double standards.
