It isn’t perfect. I’d edit out about half the video where the angle on the face isn’t good enough for the fake to make a difference or anytime her face crosses offscreen. But even with that edit there is some good footage. Go show that page some love (likes)

How do you deep fake?

Based on bellgeek's first threads it looks like you need to be comfortable with python, have a bunch of patience with training, and then for clips of any length a graphics card that will run for a few days or access to cloud compute.

The software has probably gotten better since then?

(March 3, 2018, 8:27 pm)bellgeek I'm just using the the deepfakes python scripts as I'm not on Windows. And I'm just on a laptop using just my CPUs. I'm trying to figure out if I should leap to deepfake-GAN so it will be more forgiving about the videos I can use, but even the folks with graphics cards are complaining about GAN performance. I think the software is only going to get better, but probably at the expense of processing time.

I'm on a quad core CPU, so maybe 10 hours of extract, 2-3 days of training, once I've got everything right. But in reality there are a bunch of false starts as I discovered vids that don't work or celebs that get close but not quite, so I'm looking at twice that processing time and multiple windows of 30 minutes when I stop, do a convert, and see if I like the way things are going. And I'm using existing celebrity libraries made by other people, which saves me probably a day of heavily manual work.

If I had a real GPU rig or was paying for AWS or Google, I could probably half that processing time (or more if I wanted to give AWS real money for their 16x GPU machines). But for now I'm happy using what I have rather than spending new money.
