I just realized that women get periods because they ignore their menstrual cycle and let perfectly good eggs go to waist. Technically every time their tubes drop an egg into their uterus it should be fertilized. The fact that they get sick and are in discomfort while on a period indicates it's a condition their bodies were not intended to go through. So in theory if women would get pregnant every time they ovulate they would not have to bleed out of their vaginas because that secretion is the by product of wasted reproductive materials. The egg, uterus lining, etc.

A pregnancy a month keeps the period away!

So getting pregnant every month and having to get "rid of it" every time is worth avoiding a week of discomfort?

Ehm... well, we can agree that pregnancies are a good way of keeping periods away for long bouts of time.

Not all the time. Some women still experience periods during their pregnancies, and they ovulate during the whole pregnancy.

Sometimes this results in superfetation, which is when a woman becomes pregnant again while still being pregnant, and is incubating embryos of two different ages.

Like what was said earlier some women still have periods during pregnancy, so this more or less doesn't fix anything.

I... don't get the point of this thread. Pointing out that pregnancy usually stops the female body from going through the action of monthly cycles of getting rid of the egg and uterus lining? Ok... and? And you say a pregnancy a month keeps the period away... you do know pregnancies last on average 9 months? Also, pregnancies are much more uncomfortable and dangerous for a woman.

Women are not pregnancy machines, just like men aren't sperm machines. We're people, much more then just our biological actions.

Or is this like a 'haha, joke' post? If so, sorry for being serious and not getting the joke.

And I discussed my points and engaged in the discussion even though I still don't get the whole point of the argument. Yes, pregnancy stops periods for most women. Yes, for some women periods are hardcore painful. But is this 'have babies to stop period pains' really a good point, good advice, or even a rational and realistic way to handle those issues? Or is it more of a thought experiment? More of a 'maybe in a society where women were constantly pregnant when they could get pregnant they'd... lead period free and period pain free lives'?
