Just a question.
A recent childhood friend of mine was pregnant for almost 44 weeks before giving birth. She ran away from home and did not seek medical attention throughout the entire pregnancy and just carried the baby in her womb until she can no longer hold it. Towards the end of her pregnancy, her belly was not only huge (looked like she had twins) but also hanging extremely low. Her belly was so huge, some maternity clothes available in my town couldn’t fit, and she always had a bit of exposed belly flesh underneath.
My curiosity is rather, how big can a baby grow in a mother’s belly without being induced and if late term pregnancy is safe for natural delivery. (She had to do C section because the baby was so large she couldn’t deliver through natural means)
P.s. I have pictures of her at 43 weeks pregnant, I’ll post after censoring her face if I am able to find it in my hard drive.

The longest pregnancy on record was set by Beulah Hunter who was pregnant for over a year and a few days. I'm not sure if she had a C-section or not since this was well over 70 years ago, but she did reportedly give birth to a healthy baby.

I think nowadays most OBs won’t let a woman go past about 42 weeks unless she absolutely insists on going into labor naturally. I’m sure there are women who go longer though (e.g. if they are under the care of a midwife).

Yeah, 42 seems to be the limit imposed by modern medical professionals. But as griddles14 said, a friend of his who chose not to see doctors about it went a good couple of weeks past that, so the human body is capable of it at least. I've wondered the same thing a few times, myself.
I'm glad we're equipped to prevent pregnancies from lasting so long that they become dangerous. At the same time, I kinda wish I could see some of them go a little too far, for curiosity/fetish's sake.

Depends on the doctor, but the placenta's connection to the uterine wall gets real iffy after 42 weeks, which is why that is the general bar. Yes, you can go further, but it's not considered safe.

Doctors today don't allow you to go over 42. I was 9 days delayed on my due date and I was desperate to give birth. To be honest. When you are that pregnant you want the baby out. No one pregnant could feel comfortable with a huge baby inside. And being 42 weeks pregnant (I have been induced 14 days after my due date) it's big NOOO for me. I can't imagine if we get pregnant 2 years as the elephant does.

As PregnantLola said 42 weeks is what doctors recommend for you to be pregnant for. 40 weeks is the norm for a pregnant woman. I've watched one vlog where the woman was 41 weeks pregnant. She believed that the baby didn't want to leave her just yet. She did eventually did give birth during that 41st week.

On average it is 40weeks, but it can vary. According to this article a woman in 1945 carried for over a year. https://mom.me/pregnancy/8759-10-amazing...ancy-ever/. here is another link to support the first ( http://content.time.com/time/magazine/ar...53,00.html) 40 weeks seems to be the average, but given when we don't know exactly when conception occurs it can vary.

I've heard other smart women say stupid shit like this. As if the fetus has any concept of what's going on and could possibly "want" to be born...
