Yeah she is definitely pulling a Kylie Jenner at this point. We will just have to wait for round 2.

I think this movie was actually disqualified from Oscars because of it. someone apparently is convinced that since she was pregnant, that the movie endorses teen pregnancy or something like that

What are you even talking about? All I could find was Disney retracting their nomination entry for Best Original Song. They still have entries submitted for all the other categories.

???? Disney dropped one original song from consideration due to it being mildly offensive overseas. I don't know where you got the idea that the main star getting pregnant AFTER the film was finished was a reason for the whole movie to get dropped.

Heck, Juno was a literal teen pregnancy movie and it won the Oscar for best original screenplay and was nominated for 3 other categories.

I don't think an actress getting pregnant would effect the Oscar nomination process at all. Doesn't pass the smell test. Also she is probably 20 something weeks pregnant and that movie was marketed over a year ago and filmed probably 2 to 3 years before that. So yeah I don't think a pregnancy rumor would effect it in any way.

Yeah, that shouldn't affect anything. Back in 2011, Natalie Portman even won an Oscar while pregnant.

So did Cate Blanchett, and Catherine Zeta-Jones before her.

The movie was filmed from Jan-July 2021. I think she is hiding the obvious because she feels embarrassed or thinks that it's not attractive. Celebrities are suposed to always look their best even when they're not acting or singing. Only the truely beautiful ones are the ones not hiding their pregnancies. Whenever someone is hiding something or going private, it means they did something they shouldn't have. Plus DDG probably has too much sex anyways.

Also: given the "new gender" of the person who played Juno.. wouldn't the movie technically be Mpreg if the character was played by a male? (Even if they didn't know they were a male at the time).

I'm not saying it's true or not, but I've seen more than one "news" source on it. Just look up "live action little mermaid oscar pregnancy scandal"

Also, to edit my earlier statement, I guess the rumors were removing Halle Bailey, not the whole movie from consideration. Either way, after looking at it a bit, neither case seems likely.
