I'm sorry guys, but this was meant for avatars only. Uploading 10 x 10 MB images consumes 100 MB of server space -- that's excessive with our setup. The limit has been lowered to 6.5 MB and I'll need to prune some of the larger uploads people have made. Please use this limit for avatars, clips aren't supported until we complete our upgrade.

As I mentioned before, we do not have the server capacity for clip-like GIFs. That would apply to repackaging a TikTok video as a GIF.

We will be upgrading server storage in the coming months. SSD storage is extremely expensive and we're nearing our limit. Having people upload batches of GIF clips isn't supported until this happens. My promise is to upgrade things so that this will be supported, as clips would be a wonderful addition to the site. We'd like to reach a point where people can upload TikToks and other clips as GIFs (or some other format) however that will require a separate server.

The upgrade is planned for December, possibly sooner.

GIF is flaming-hot garbage both in quality and file size, and I have no idea why people continue to use it in this century. I'd do everything possible to discourage its use in favor of WEBM or MP4.

It's only flaming hot garbage when you don't know what you're doing. And until sites gain the ability to use MP4s for profile pics, Gifs are here to stay.

JPEG XL can even replace GIF for short animations, assuming Google gets its act together.

My avatar is limited to 1.46MB, was it supposed to be 12MB?

It should have been set to 6.35 MB (consistent with attachment limits) -- I've updated the settings and you should now be able to upload anything up to that 6.35 MB limit @Abbegirl.

Agreed about GIFs @Couchy. WEBM/MP4 is something we'd prefer, though we'll need to figure out a storage solution.
