When a thread becomes irrelevant to recent interests, i.e. you post a progression and the is no more content and nothing left to say, the thread essentially "dies". To "necro" a thread is to post in an old thread and bringing it back to the front page or back to "life"

While there is isnt anything inherently wrong with necroing a dead thread, its generally looked down upon if the post is unnecessary and adds nothing to the original thread, especially if the thread is rather old. While in this rare case I provided a significant addition to the thread, so its generally approved.
