I definitely think pursuing a job that puts you around pregnant women is totally ethical. For me the line gets crossed when its medical or birth-focused like being an ultrasound tech, working for an OBGYN, and being a doula. I feel since the intention of those jobs is specifically help with a successful pregnancy and birth it really betrays the built in trust those workers have with their patients/clients. Now something that doesn't include that trust feels fine. Obviously photographer would be amazing, but more often than not that market is cornered and you'd honestly have to take pictures of a lot of shit apart from maternity. It really truly would take a lot of work to get to the fantasy point.
I find that a public facing job where you are likely to interact with lots of people is your best bet. Honestly I feel like in the right areas being an attractive cashier or bank teller would be a goldmine on average. Other things that allow you to travel around locally wouldn't necessarily require as much schooling as say social work, but they have similar structures that would put you near pregnant women. I guess really what I am getting at is finding a job that has the added bonus of being around pregnant women, which are quite a few. Obviously there are some people out there like us that are living the dream, running a maternity store in a super fertile area with low sexual stigmas and plenty of single moms to be, but the likelihood of finding that rare job lends to other more realistic options.
