I've been diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum, but it's never been confirmed to be specifically Asperger's. In short, I don't know.
I suspect I'm autistic. I've always tested on all those online tests RIGHT at the functioning/not being border. I do want to get it checked someday but I hear it's $$$'s
I was diagnosed ASD-1 (formerly known as Asperger's syndrome) a few years ago, coupled with ADhD. It is a common combination, sometimes called Audhd.
Both autism and adhd seem to be neurodevelopmental in nature, not really a mental disorder of the nuture variety? Some of the rerouted or truncated nerve pathways seem to affect social bonding, mirror neurons, and such. It used to be thought that autistic people lacked empathy, but that may be incorrect- it's there, but accessed in a more convoluted way? I read a study that found people with ASD have heightened sexual thoughts and feeling compared to non-ASD people. The study also found that women with ASD are better able to adjust socially than men. This explains a lot about the internet.

"There seems to be a link between ASD and having poor coordination and/or clumsiness." I've read some articles that mention autistic folk tend to have a smaller cerebellum, which is thought to be a motor control region of our brains. It does sound as though you are correct in this. | |||||||||||
